This is an interesting time we are currently living in. As many of us have, I’ve been watching the progress of what’s happening around the world. It has been fascinating to see what is being “hoarded” from my local stores and some of it is just befuddling to me. That is why I want to discuss the “hoarding” of paper towels.
You would think that between toilet paper and paper towels flying off shelves that the world is ending and everyone wants to go with clean butts and whatever they are using paper towels for. I’m not judging, not really, but I’d appreciate if people would use some common sense…
So, paper towels. What’s the deal? Why do people need hundreds of rolls of paper towels? Am I missing something? Here’s my solution for not needing to rely on paper towels like the world is ending.

Do you have some old hand towels or wash cloths that you just couldn’t throw away? Now is the time to pull those babies out and save what paper towel you have left. Been thinking about updating your hand towels? Submit your drive-up order to Target, Walmart, Amazon or whatever you fancy and take this opportunity to replace and repurpose those old towels.
In our house, since we have a washer and dryer and it has a sanitize setting, we wash them every night at the end of the day. The CDC recommends every other day but we have enough laundry to go ahead and do every day. By cleaning them on a hot water setting and a hot dry setting, you will have adequately disinfected them for the next days use.
What else can you do? Wash your car, dry your dog off from a bath, clean your windows. The sky is the limit!
This is literally common sense. Finding an alternative that is also eco-friendly is a win for everyone. Let those who don’t have easy access to washing facilities or have another hurdle that limits their ability to safely sanitize cleaning rags have the ability to buy their essentials.
